An excellent partly gemmy translucent green single terminated emerald crystal measuring 3.0 x 2.0 x 1.6 cm in size. Complete all around and without damage. A spectacular crystallized grouping of native copper coming off a small amount of breccia matrix. The crystals measure to 0.7 cm in size and are aesthetically arranged. There are brilliant neon-pink micro crystals of dolomite scattered throughout the native copper crystals. Crystallized all around 360 degrees - no damage. According to Lhoest, et al, in The Mineralogical Record: 22: page 17, native copper is quite rare in the Shaba Crescent. This specimen is part of a very small find in 1992. An example, said to be the "best of the find", is shown in F. John Barlow Collection, page 316. Based on the photo of that specimen, I feel that this piece is far superior in quality. Measures 11.5 x 8.5 x 6.3 cm in size overall. The specimen comes with a special acrylic display base.
